Benefit of Koi Pond Aeration
KOI POND AERATION -- Aeration is the term that we use to mean adding air to the water. Since air contains 22% oxygen, aeration adds oxygen to the water. There are a number of very essential pieces of equipment to consider when planning a pond. None more so than a good reliable quality air pump.

Ideal Flow Rate In Pond Filter
WATER FLOW RATE POND FILTER -- Flow rates are important for a few reasons. Firstly, it would be normal advice to filter the complete capacity of a pond around every 2 hours. This is the specification of the pump you are looking for. You will need a pump of around that flow rate after losses due to bends etc. Why is this important? It is simple and has two basic answers. Firstly the flow rate has a major effect on the biological capacity of the filter. These filters work using naturally grown nitrifying bacteria which help change noxious ammonia (liquid fish waste) into noxious nitrites, and finally into harmless nitrates .

Water Purifier In Koi Pond
WATER PURIFIER -- The purification process of water may reduce the concentration of particulate matter including suspended particles, parasites, bacteria, algae, viruses, fungi; and a range of dissolved and particulate material derived from the surfaces that water may have made contact with after falling as rain. Water purification is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, biological contaminants, suspended solids and gases from contaminated water. Chlorine is added to drinking water in most parts of the world to help kill bacteria. It therefore follows that when you fill or top up your pond you are adding chlorine to it and putting the health of your fish at risk.

How to Care For Aquarium Fish
FISH CARE -- An aquarium is perhaps the easiest type of pet to have. There are some basic steps to caring for fish once the tank is established. There are things that should be done daily to care for fish and some things that need only be done weekly or bi-weekly.
Daily maintenance of an aquarium is fairly minimal. Look at the fish every day to make sure they appear to be overall healthy and happy. This may seem silly, but the main cause of sickness in fish is stress. So, a happy fish is a healthy fish.

How To Make High Quality Pond Water
KOI POND WATER -- Koi health dependt on water quality in the pond. Pond water quality is defined by what the water contains and in what amounts: dissolved oxygen, fish wastes and dead matter, as well as their associated byproducts (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates). Koi experts recommend the monitoring of the following water parameters once a week (or at the minimum, once a month): ammonia level, nitrite level, nitrate level, and pH. The monitoring should be more frequent if the pond is newly built, since the pond's water quality has not yet stabilized. Pond temperature must also be monitored regularly if temperature extremes are being experienced by an outside pond.

Koi Growth
KOI GROWTH -- Koi is a fish that can reach a large size, more than 1 meter of koi has reached by koi keeper in the world. In addition to the size koi also can reach the old age. Hanako is oldest koi ,was reportedly 226 years old upon her death. She was owned by several individuals, the last of whom was Dr. Komei Koshihara. Her age was determined by removing one of her scales and examining it extensively in 1966. She is (to date) the longest-lived koi fish ever recorded. The growth of koi can be assessed based on comparison of the size and age.

KOI TREATMENT WITH SALT
Koi Treatment needed when koi sick or moved from other pond. You can treat koi fish in the quarantine pond, fiber tank or big bowl. When you have selected the correct bowl for the job in hand - always put enough water in the bowl so that the Koi can move freely in the normal upright manner , then you will need to add some anesthetic - just enough to gently put the Koi to sleep whilst you go to work on the infected, or damaged, area. It is always hard to advise people on how much anesthetic to use ... it depends on many things ... mainly how big the fish to be treated is ... the temperature of the water and how much water is in the bowl ... and how healthy the fish is .... but it is important that you do not put too much anesthetic in the bowl and the fish is almost unconscious as soon as it hits the water ..

Selecting Tancho KOI
A Tancho is a koi type with a distinctive, usually round and red (hi), marking on the head that does not appear anywhere else on the body. Originally the name was “Hinomaru”, a crimson disk on white ground, representative of the Japanese national flag. The word “tancho” derives from the Japanese crane, a white bird with a round red crest. The roundish head marking which appears in addition to any other similar colored markings on the body is known as Maruten, as opposed to Tancho.

Red Color Development In Koi Fish
Red Color or Hi in Koi Fish make koi more beautiful and wonderful. But the depth of red color make one koi fish different with other. Depth of red color depend on genetict, environment and food. Red color in koi also depend in the age of koi fish. Hi (red color) in young koi may be not yet depth (orange) but tend to dark in the age.Koi development can be a confusing topic particularly for folks just getting into the koi hobby. One of the reasons for this is that there are no "exacts" in koi. Another reason is a koi's colors can be easily changed by environment and diet.
