How to Care For Aquarium Fish

FISH CARE -- An aquarium is perhaps the easiest type of pet to have. There are some basic steps to caring for fish once the tank is established. There are things that should be done daily to care for fish and some things that need only be done weekly or bi-weekly.

Daily maintenance of an aquarium is fairly minimal. Look at the fish every day to make sure they appear to be overall healthy and happy. This may seem silly, but the main cause of sickness in fish is stress. So, a happy fish is a healthy fish.

How To Make High Quality Pond Water

KOI POND WATER --  Koi health dependt on water quality in the pond. Pond water quality is defined by what the water contains and in what amounts: dissolved oxygen, fish wastes and dead matter, as well as their associated byproducts (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates). Koi experts recommend the monitoring of the following water parameters once a week (or at the minimum, once a month): ammonia level, nitrite level, nitrate level, and pH. The monitoring should be more frequent if the pond is newly built, since the pond's water quality has not yet stabilized. Pond temperature must also be monitored regularly if temperature extremes are being experienced by an outside pond.

KOI GROWTH --  Koi is a fish that can reach a large size, more than 1 meter of koi has reached by koi keeper in the world. In addition to the size koi also can reach the old age. Hanako is oldest koi ,was reportedly 226 years old upon her death. She was owned by several individuals, the last of whom was Dr. Komei Koshihara. Her age was determined by removing one of her scales and examining it extensively in 1966. She is (to date) the longest-lived koi fish ever recorded. The growth of koi can be assessed based on comparison of the size and age.
