How To Build Overflow For Koi Pond


For Koi Ponds, It is necessary to have an overflow in the system to prevent the water level getting above the designed level. This is usually fitted in the last bay of the filter. Fig shows a system that was very popular a few years ago mainly because it is fully adjustable, and so you can set it as you wish.

The photo on the left shows a method that is often used by local koi-keepers.


This is also fitted in the filter chamber as the one shown above.
It will be noted that a screw nipple is used to connect to the socket. This ensures that it is still watertight, but by turning the elbow it also becomes adjustable. It can also be installed lower down and a pipe fitted to the correct length.
In both cases the water is discharged to the drains box and so to waste.
