Koi Pond Filter With Bakki Shower
BAKKI SHOWER FILTER -- Bakki Shower filter media was originally conceived by MTK in Japan, for treating effluent water, some 8 years ago, and went on to win an International award in Germany, as "Best filtration media in the World." Mr. Mannami of MTK is a close friend of President Maeda of Momotaro Koi Farm. Mr. Maeda has long been fascinated by the way that water becomes 'alive' as it tumbles over rocks in the Asahi River outside his Koi Farm. As such, he was convinced that it would be possible to make much better water for koi, just by recreating the effects of the tumbling river. Bakki Shower Filter adopting of the natural water flow in the river.

Gin Rin Koi type is short for Kin Gin Rin (= gold, silver scales). Gin Rin is the result of a reflective substance called Guanine deposited on the surface of koi scales.Practically every known variety of Koi can produce a Kin-Gin-Rin equivalent, for example, Gin-Rin Shiro Bekko. However, they are either classified as Kin-Gin-Rin B (ZNA) or with their basic variety (UK). Gin-Rin Shiro Utsuri can be included with Kin-Gin-Rin A (ZNA).

Benefit Of Waterfall In Koi Ponds
KOI POND WATERFALL -- One benefit of having a garden waterfall or backyard waterfalls is they increase water molecules and bring more oxygen to the pond water, creating an ideal habitat for Japanese Koi fish. Stepped falls have more surface area and turbulence than straight falls. This increases the air and water interaction that allows oxygen to be dissolved. Creating a natural oxygenators for your pond.

How to Care Koi Fish
KOI FISH CARE -- Koi Pond depth also needs to be defined. A pond 2 meters deep is considered deep. A pond 3 meters deep is considered a tourist attraction. A pond 1 meter deep is considered shallow by many enthusiasts. Ponds below 50cm should not have Koi in them. I agree, however, there are many Koi keepers who have ponds and water features that are 50cm deep. They have Koi living quite happily in them.
We can confidently define a deep pond as a pond that is 2 meters or deeper. Shallow ponds are defined as 80cm - 1.2 meters in depth. Anything in between is a medium depth pond.

Asagi Koi Fish
The Asagi koi is one of the oldest varieties of Koi Fish and has provided the basis for many subsequent varieties. Its back is covered in a net-like reticulated scale pattern of indigo, navy blue or pale blue. The light blue head should be clear and unblemished. The base of the pectoral fins, tail fin, stomach and gill plates is a deep orange or red color.Viewed from above, the Asagi Koi Fish has a dorsal area that extends from the tail to a point just forward of the gill openings and which is covered with a reticulated pattern of scales which are bordered by a much lighter color, be this a light blue through white.

Using Barley Straw To Control Algae
There are two ways to control the growth of algae in garden ponds, UV light and barley straw. Barley Straw is a natural way to control algae in your water garden. As you know algae booming will make green water. Barley straw releases a natural algae inhibitor as it bio-degrades. Barley Straw is used to curb the growth of string or filamentous algae which cannot be destroyed using UV lights. This also helps rid the pond of any kind of stench and makes water sparkle. There are many different forms of barley straw such as actual straw, bales, pellets and extract (liquid).

Koi Pond Water Temperature
Koi Fish and garden ponds are naturally heated up by the sun. Ponds with large volumes of water and/or deep water will take longer to heat up. Furthermore, water requires a lot of energy to heat it up so it will take many days of hot sun before a pond’s temperature warms up. Conversely, the pond will keep its temperature for several weeks after the first cold snap of autumn. Koi Fish , like all fish, cannot control their body temperature, so whatever the water temperature is will be the temperature of fish, too.
